Well no, not necessarily – hence this blog post. We wanted to give you a rundown of exactly what you get for your money when you choose TVL, and why buying cheap is a false economy that could cost you dear.

Why should I buy a hooklock at all?
Good question. With so many products on the market, why buy a hooklock rather than, say, a deadlock?
The answer is simple. It’s just more reliable. Traditionally the go-to for years, the deadlock was used far and wide. However, as thieves managed to find ways round – or through – this line of defence, TVL developed an alternative, with a hooked design that would give a level of defence that went above and beyond.

Our technicians at our state-of-the-art test centre put all our products through their paces before they hit the market. They can simulate all manner of attacks, meaning we can quickly adapt to new techniques and stay one step ahead of the curve – and the thieves.
It also means we know exactly how strong the TVL HookLock is, measured in kN (the force it can withstand).
The answer is 9.18kN or, to put it in terms that might be easier to picture, it’s as strong as a rhino. Our nearest competitor, meanwhile, came in at 4.9kN, or a race horse, to continue the comparison.
